The Spawning

The following is a piece I have been working on for a little bit, something I certainly plan to paint at some point. Calling it the spawning for obvious reasons, does look rather painful.

Did I mention Rome is coming? Probably have some pics of my WAB Romans come this weekend. Nothing really special...but it has been fun, probably the fastest I have ever painted a 1000 pt army, and they are tiny little bastards. After Rome...I'll be moving on to orcs and some more mutated Empire.

Nurgle #2 which just may be smarter than Agent 0

This is the Beast of Nurgle #2, again converted from the Forgeworld Nurgle Ogryn which is a simply gloriously detailed model, its very stunning to look at in person, and my job was to get rid of all of the techno stuff to make it fit the fantasy realm. I think was able to pull it off, and it continued my education of sculpting nurgle. There were alot of tech stuff on the back that needed covering and I changed the angle of the one arm.

There was also a huge piece of tech coming out of the gut with mechanical looking tube, simply covered that to make the model even more bloated, and the tube was made to look sort of like an intestinal bypass, I figure these guys must generate some good methane, so they probably digest their own sludge.

Now on to Agent 0, Gilbert Areanas, I guess we now know why he wears the #0. What kind of idiot stores his weapons at his workplace, other than maybe a disgruntled Postal Work. You especially have to be nuts to do that Washington DC of all places. Oh his reasoning is that he didn't want to have them at home with his young kids. Well then either sell them or get yourself a gun safe, you should be able to afford one at $10 million a year. What is wrong with these guys? The NFL and NBA ought to have the NRA come in and teach these guys about gun safety, and then when they are done with that they should have to pass a hunter's safety course. The Wizards, formerly Bullets what irony there, you can bet will go after all the money that they wasted on this guy and his fragile knees. Now we all know why his nickname is Agent 0.
Rome is coming.......

Mutated Empire...

Someone that I often work with wanted to use the flaggellants in his chaos army with a mutated twist to sub in for the current marauders. So I started coming up with a number of relatively minor alterations to the models to give them that mutated chaos feel. This is just the start, a few horns, some two headed fiends, and an eyeball [blatantly stolen from the young Mr. Dylan Gauker]

I've also mixed a few chaos weapon swaps and accessory bits.

More to follow on these guys, as there are about 40 of them. And yes the Romans are coming....

Beast of Nurgle #1

Been doing a lot of projects lately, this is the most busy I have ever been on projects, I'll eventually get around to showing most the work...very large variety of things.

First up a fantasy beast of nurgle conversion using one of the Forgeworld nurgle ogryn. This is an incredibly detailed model. I learned alot about sculpting nurgle by taking on this project and how certain effects are achieved in converting this thing from 40k to Fantasy, the goal of which was to get rid of all of the techno/modern stuff and replace it with pure nurgle. To do so required matching the high level of detail of the Forgeworld sculpt. Here is how it turned out.

Next up a sneek peak at what I'm painting for myself, its coming from Rome.

The Beast Lives

It breathes, it has brakes, runs, makes noise, my awesome Ork battle truck is coming to life. Well maybe not an ork battle truck, but more like my '51 Ford F-1. Lots of blood, sweat, and money in this one.

Lots of work not enough time....

Lately I have been swamped with commission work, building lots of cool things. I like seeing ultra cool armies, even more so than one off pieces. For me there is something about all of the models making up the army when done well and right that is just intriguing. I think its a really under-appreciated portion of the hobby. In my opinion, a lot of the individuals that just build the one off competition models haven't the appreciation for armies filled with creativity and work, and fail to see the effort put forth, because all they can see is the flaws in the technique in particular individual models in the army. Many of them cannot see the big picture, all they can see is this micro version of the picture. And of course many of them feel quite superior, to the army builders. My eyes are very wide open, even moreso, after a short debate over the upcoming Adepticon Rogue Demon painting competition. That's unfortunate...its their loss.

That said, thought I would show a few pieces that I have recently finished and currently working on. Currently working on converting some Forgeworld Ogryn from 40k to Fantasy. This is a WIP picture, the detail on these huge models are intense, learning a bit of nurgle techniques from them. More to follow on these models, someday soon.

And some more bloodletters....

And this one is for me. I have been thinking about my orc army quite a bit lately, knowing that I need some centerpiece models for the army, this one of them that I have in mind. So I'm working on this in my spare time. The head on the right may just tip you off to what its for....
Not sure that I will be able to pull this off, but I am going to attempt to.

A little work done

Been very busy of late with commission work, so not much head way on my own stuff but I do have some things show.

I've had a few space marine bikes since I did my Templar army a long time ago and never put them together, so I thought I would play with that model a bit for fun while building a bunch of commission stuff.

Haven't mad much progress on the orcs, but I have been playing with a few things to distinguish the heads. The goal with my orc army will be not repeat a single model in the army.
