A new Barbarian - Art

Been a while since I sat down and put pencil to paper and then dug out the quill and brush and some india ink.  I will be painting today, but just finished up this piece and scanned it.  Getting some of the creative juices flowing again by drawing some things and inking other great artist's work as well.

So this one is on me, somewhere out there, barbarians are fighting:

Olaf and another Viking....

Some more vikings.  One more of them a Footsore miniature.  The one with the horn is a Gripping Beast metal miniature.  The one below is a converted Olaf Footsore Miniature using a Gripping Beast Plastic head.

The wolves on the shield are actually 40k transfers from an old space wolves kit.

I think the conversion turned out pretty cool.  Its what I was going for, especially since I already a Olaf miniature in my collection.
That's it for now, more progress.....

Footsore - Erik Oaksplitter - Painted

One of my very few Footsore Miniatures.  This Viking is their Erik Oaksplitter miniature.
I really like this miniature.  It has a very cool flow to it.

Unfurl the Banners - More Vikings

My new Viking bannermen.  These are all metal Gripping Beast models.
Banners are lightweight paper banners.
If the banners look familiar, that is because they came from the paper insert that is sent with the Gripping Beast Plastics.  It was cheap, quick way to do some banners.  In the end I may at some point sit down and draw and paint some actual originals, but for now these are good enough.

Gigantic Evil Worm

So I have had this miniature for years sitting on my desk.  Its a Reaper Bones miniature.  The first one that I have painted.

I'm definitely not a fan of the Bones miniatures.  I really do not care for the material.  It is a cool mini though. The color scheme was more or less a haphazard affair of colors that I was just painting on some other miniatures.  I had absolutely no plan on how this would turn out.
It will make a good fantasy terrain piece for me.  I do plan to actually keep it in my collection.  As always more to follow.

NEW Chaos Spawn!!!

This is inspired by a Mike Butcher Chaos Ogre that I saw years ago.  I really loved the look of it and I had this Rat Ogre and some Tyranid pieces around and thought, this would make a cool looking figure.
The figure is massive.  You can see the tentacles from the spawn kit coming out of its back.
I gave it a fleshy color scheme.
 With some torn skin.
The upper part of the head was is an ogre bit.  The lower part is a Tyranid jaw. With the overall body being from the rat ogre kit.  All blended together with green stuff.
As always much more to follow.

She comes from the North and is part Barbarian....newly painted Avatars of War Figure

I originally bought this figure to be a part of my Mutant Marauders Warhammer force a long time ago.
Its an Avatars of War miniature.  The sculpt originally looked very cool minus the paint.  But as you paint it you find the incredible flaws in it, from the weird right elbow to the spindly leg that disappears in a weird way
The fur looks like something I'm able to sculpt which doesn't say much.
Then there is the weird hide or fur or whatever the hell that texture is on the inside by the left axe.  I painted it like a torn tanned hide color.  Not a great sculpt, I do not recommend the sculpt to anyone.  Despite that I think I painted it alright.  Much more to follow....

Next Painted Roman Officer - Victrix Generals Kit

Yea, I do love these Victrix minis.   Really neat poses on all of the horses.
This is the second one that I have done.  Its a cool mini.  Cool pose and cape.
 Very dynamic pose.
I really enjoyed painting him.  Going be getting around to a few more of these and a couple that I'm converting for particular use.
As always more to come.

Avatar's of War Painted - The Bleep! You Dwarf Berserker

This is like the second time I have painted an Avatar's of War Dwarf.  He is a spunky little guy flipping the bird.
Fun miniature to paint.  I don't think photo taking is very good on him, but its about the best my ancient digital camera can do until I get a newer one.
Another angle of him flippin' the bird.  This guy will be going up for sale likely next month on eBay.
That's it for now.....more to follow as always.

Hail to Rome....My first painted mini from the Roman Generals Kit

Wow I really love what Victrix is doing these days.  This miniature is a fine example of their great looking plastics line.  Absolutely love these models, detail is great and so are the poses and parts.  I bought the box set for characters for my current Roman armies and had some left over after the building.  Sold one still on the sprue and put together some of the others to paint and sell.  This is the first of that group that was for sale.
Painted in royal purples, not a scheme that I use very often.  I think I probably should use it more.
The horse was a fun little experiment, and I really liked how it turned out.
Basing is pretty much the same as my Vikings and Saxons and other Roman stuff that just rebased some of the older stuff, more or less just updated it.
Love this Victrix work, much better than my older Warlord stuff.  So much so that I cannot wait to get my paint brushes on some of their Vikings as well.
As always much more to follow...Rome is expanding.
