Roman Auxiliaries Finished Unit

You saw in a previous post the finished Centurion and Optio.  Well, here finally is the entire unit of the Victrix Romans.

I'm still not quite done with the movement tray, but I think the unit turned out awesome.  Victrix nailed it.
Transfers are from Little Big Men Studios, they nailed it.

The Models are real joy to paint.  I have a couple more Roman units from Victrix to do, and I'm truly looking forward to them, even though I've done probably over 200+ Romans already.
History is fun.
Let me know what you think.  More stuff to follow.  I had a great time with these.  Get up, Get out, Get after it, don't let anyone hold you back.

Bray-Shaman Painted .... Bet you did not see that coming

Wow.  Its been a while since I gave my beastmen any love.  Honestly this miniature, I have had partially painted for years, like probably a decade.  Found it in a box, I just got around to finishing it up.

I have been toying with the idea of playing some Frostgrave and / or some Dragon Rampant.  So this is a model that would be needed with those Beasties that I already have.
Not sure why I put the scroll on the mini.  The skulls turned our okay.
The reds are my typical palette that has changed slightly over the years as far as the paints I use, but has not really changed in color.  Nowadays, I'm mostly using the Reaper Master Series Blood Red triad.

I hope I based him right.  I was going off of memory when I did it.
There you have it a new Beastman.  Get up, Get out, Get after it.

Medusa!

A new one for me is painting a Medusa.  This the second time I have painted a Reaper Bones model, and it will likely be the last time as well.  Not really a fan of that material, price is cheap and that is not always a good thing.

I've been looking for some decent Medusa models, this is not one of them.  The model just not good, neither is the sculpt.  I think my paintwork made it look slightly better.
I am eventually going to be doing some Greeks and this will be one of the models that I'm going to use with all of that down the road.
The above pic, shows one of those horrible mold lines that you cannot remove with a scalpel like normal plastic models.  And I did not feel like going in and fixing it with green stuff.
Quite honestly this model will likely never leave my game room.
Speaking of that game room, once I get the bathroom work done, that may be the next major project.
The above is probably the best angle of this pitiful creature.  If you know of some good medusa's please let me know in the comments.  Until next time, get out, and get things done.

April - WIP on the Desk

30+ models are on that desk at various stages of completion.  Definitely making some head way on most of them.  A good chunk of the Warhammer Chaos models once done will be going up for sale.  The Romans are going to into my Roman army.  I have a couple of Napoleonic British on the desk that are getting some color, mainly as some test models for the scheme that I will be using.

Mostly Warlord Romans, but you do see some Wargames Foundry minis in there as well.
There's Reaper, some Red Box Games, Avatars of War, Adrian Smith's Hate as well.

Below you'll notice a couple of Romans that are Foundry models with Victrix heads for conversions, I was surprise how little effort that took.
As always more to follow.....quickening the pace.

Painted Victrix Roman Auxiliaries - Centurion and Optio

Still working on what I showed in the last post on my desk.  I'll have an update on that very soon.  I've been busy doing some dry-walling in my house upstairs bathroom and normal work has been busy.  Little bit sidetracked with some other things.

On to this posting....So I recently put the finishing touches on a unit of Victrix Roman Auxiliaries. This is actually the first unit of auxiliaries that I've done in quite a while.  The Victrix models are very cool.  By far the best plastic Romans that I have ever worked on.

Here is a few shots of the Centurion and Optio for the unit.  Love the poses.  Do pay attention to shield and arm placement when you are working on getting these models to rank up for your units.  The next posting I'll have of these will be the entire unit.

The shield transfer is from Little Big Men Studios, you really in my opinion cannot go wrong using those transfers.

That's it for now.  I have some more stuff coming very soon.  Get out, get doing things.

WIP on the Desk is Back!

Well my getting back to painting some miniatures has been a bit delayed and bit sidetracked.  Been drawing and inking a bit.  Also been working on my house and such as well.  And then my actual job kept me really busy with some deadlines.  But I managed some time the last couple of days to get back to the painting desk with a variety of projects.

I did manage to paint up completely some movement trays not pictured.  The shields at the lower left are for some Victrix Roman Auxiliaries that I have had finished that just need basing and shields.  Pics of those will becoming.
I also have the beginnings of my gaming table put together down in my basement.  Starting with a a cool built table.
So expect to see some more things soon....

When Barbarian Fight...My Art

When I was a kid, I would spend hours looking at Marvel Comics' Big John Buscema's Conan and Thor and Avengers.  I was not a rich kid, I did not have a ton of comicbooks, just a few.  John Buscema artwork was what I thought was perfect for comic books.  I would spend many days trying to draw like him, inspired by him.  Many of those books fell apart and are in complete tatters, as I would take them with me on family trips to pass the time.  The only one I still have from then is Thor Annual #5, the covers are missing pieces, the book has been restapled, the pages are yellowed and worn.  A few years ago I bought a better copy of that book for my collection.  Now I have 100s of comics, mostly Conan, by John Buscema.

This piece is inspired by Big John, a Conan cover that he did years ago.  This is my version of that.
