Nurgle infested Chaos Space Marine...

Seems like I've been on a Nurgle run lately, having fun with all of the different looks. Its quickly becoming my second favorite thingto do with chaos space marines, behind the Wordbearers.

The Nurgle Ogryn conversions I did a while back really opened my eyes to using a few more techniques in creating them. The detail of the Forge World nurgle stuff is simply awesome.

Since doing a bunch of conversions up, using the plastic ork nobs, I have a bunch of these magazines left over, so I thought a drum mag would look on the bolter.

Next up, probably more chaos, but I also have a Batman Space Marine that I'm working on. The Predator will also be coming soon.

Something Different...Skaven War Litter

I normally don't stray outside of chaos, orcs, and spacemarines very often when doing commission work. My thoughts are build what you like so it doesn't become a job, but is something that is fun. Then someone that I've done work for in the past approached me with the idea of doing a war litter for his upcoming Skaven army.

I immediately thought Stormvermin, and thought this would be a fun and cool project.

It does fit on a 40mm base which works well with the Skaven.

Doing this project has given me some ideas on what to do with my orcs for fun.

Now I also have a bunch of blades and more Storm Vermin to use up as left overs. Maybe I'll build another and I have an idea for all of those Storm Vermin Halbred blades that ought to look really cool on some Chaos Spacemarines and Knights.

Word!! Wordbearer 2 in WIP

Simillar yet different than the other one. Much like the other are the GS techniques. Really digging those 8-pointed star and chaos icons from the chaos marauders very cool bit.

Boba Fett Space Marine Conversion....

He's back. I did a little preview head shot of the figure quite a few posts back and then the figure got set aside for quite awhile on my desk full of unfinished models and conversions.

So now I finally got around to finishing him off. Being a big Fett fan, this was a lot of fun to model. Lots of bits from a variety of things were used to create it.

I have no plans to actually paint this model, and have actually put it up on eBay for sale. Links to my stuff that I'm selling can be found by going to the Madhouse Forum link and ebay / for sale section of my forum. Alot of the 40k marines I do end up for sale or on ebay, as I don't play 40k and spend most of my paint time on fantasy and historical figures.

On a Converting Kick...Messing with Chaos

Last couple of days I've been on a converting kick in 40k, been getting some things out of my system and using up a number of bits laying on my desk. I enjoy making various chaos spacemarines, they are always fun to build. Wordbearers are probably my favorites:

Received a little sampler pack of gun bursts at Adepticon, by one of the sponsers. If I was doing a 40k army I would be using them all over the place on my mini's, really cool effect. The GS and BS pieces lay out on a plastic piece of film that the GS comes with. Wet the film, flatten out the putty, cut to shape, add the tears and then peel and apply to the mini. I actually add the wrinkles and folds and such on the miniature.

Miscellaneous...40k Space Marines, Painting Workshop, Go-Karts, etc.

Space Marines
Got a bit of modeling, playing with a theme sort of spinning off of the crested Corinthian style helmet, or Sons Sparta marines that someone did years ago. I think they turned out pretty good.

River City Hobbies, La Crosse, WI
This coming Saturday RCH is having a painting contest, I'll be one of the judges with a couple other veterans. There will be prizes for the winner in a number of cateogories. I will also be giving a tutorial on painting and may even be coaxed into delivery a seminar on sculpting/converting.

Go-Karts
My retired dad has many crazy ideas and love for motorsports. When you have 40 acres of land in the country its easy to make a 1/10 mile dirt track and get some go-karts and a few of us crazy family members together for racing over a holiday weekend. Its getting seriours and is a hell of a lot of fun. These ain't those incredibly slow rental karts either.

WHFB 8th Edition
I really liked the fantasy game when I started playing, still do. What I've been reading of the rumors, I'm very apprehensive about 8th edition. Not sure I'm going to like it, we'll see how much comes true, but my initial thoughts are not good. It may work out for my coming orc army though.

Indy 500
I didn't watch all of the race, what I saw was much better than the 600 in Charlotte. The last lap crash, where the car went cartwheeling up into the catch fence was just crazy scaring, and appears one of the drivers will be in a bodycast for 3 months. Good thing about Charlotte was Jimmie Johnson crashed not once, but twice. Not a fan of his.

Rampage vs. Evans
Did not get to see it, but not surprised about the outcome. One of the crazy things I heard about this was that movie company for the A-Team threatened to sue Rampage if he lost the bout. Just dumb.

Go Blackhawks
Be nice to see another Wisconsin Badger hoist the cup in Adam Burrish.

Chaotic Sorcerery...not making the cut

Originally this guy was going to be my chaos sorcerer. Once and while you have this vision of what your conversions are going to be, and they turn out to be something entirely different. That's what happened with this guy. I initially liked the conversion, painted it and came to the conclusion that it just didn't work.

It came off very stale and boring in my opinion. So the model has been cut from the lineup.

Don't worry it has found a new home already. Like many of my conversions that I don't use, they normally end up for sale at some point. Although most I realize they are not working before I spend the effort painting. This one though I wanted to turnout, and it just didn't work. So that said, new sorcerers are coming soon. Nurgle....Tzeentch....Oh My. Just hope 8th edition doesn't completely blow chunks and trashes my plans for chaos.

So there you have it...

And oh by the way....Orc building is underway....big massive units....with much animosity.
